Class of 2020 - Revised Graduation Plans

In order to be more closely aligned with Health Department guidelines and to better accommodate all families of graduating seniors, Dixon R-I Schools will be relocating our 2020 Graduation ceremony to the baseball field.  Services will still be held on June 26th, at 7:00 pm.  Each graduate will be given 10-tickets for spectator admission inside the field fences.  Ticketed guests should be prepared to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.  We encourage all guests to wear face masks but they are not required and social distancing guidelines should be observed to the greatest extent possible.

Non ticketed spectators are welcome to attend, but must remain outside the fences to maintain appropriate social distancing.  No seating will be provided for guests outside the fences, so those guests should also be prepared to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.

Graduation will be live-streamed and available to watch online and connection information will follow in a separate communication.

In the event of inclement weather that doesn’t allow an outdoor ceremony, we will relocate indoors to the High School gymnasium.  Seating will be provided for ticket holders indoors, and the same 10 guest tickets will apply.  Unfortunately only ticketed spectators will be allowed for the indoor services.  Indoor services will still be live-streamed and available for viewing online.

Ticket holders may begin entering the field for the outdoor (or gym for indoor) ceremony at 6:00 pm.  A decision on which ceremony we will have, dependent on the weather, will be made by 2:00 p.m. on the day of graduation and relayed via Bulldog Alert, website and our mobile app.

Graduating seniors need to report to the High School campus at 8:00 am on Friday, June 26 for graduation rehearsal and to obtain tickets.  Following rehearsal, seniors will be due back to campus by 5:30 pm that evening for final preparations.

Dixon R-I Administrators and Board are continuing to work hard to ensure that our graduates are celebrated and are striving to ensure they get the best ceremony possible, and to include all families.  Congratulations class of 2020 -- a year to remember!
